Parking:  Parking available in the public lots across from and next to Aloha Tower Marketplace.  First hour is free, every hour up to 6 hours is $2 with validation.  If the front lot is full, you may drop off your passengers and park in the adjacent lot.

Welcome Remarks by HPA President Jerry Boster

9:15 - 9:45: Presentation on Pelvic Floor Dysfunction by Cheri Teranishi-Hashimoto DPT, MSPT, MS, MCS.

Ms. Teranishi-Hashimoto is the Program Director of Women’s Health & Cancer Rehabilitation at Rehab Hospital of the Pacific and also the Assistant Manager for REHAB’s KJ & Beatrice Luke Specialty Clinic at Nu’uanu.  Her presentation will cover constipation and bladder issues for men and women.

9:45 - 10:15:  Tai Chi Presentation by Dr. Randy Kai Ming Wong. 

Dr. Wong is the chief surgeon at Honolulu Plastic Surgery LLC and also teaches Tai Chi at the Still and Moving Center.  His presentation will cover mind-body practice, combining meditation with slow, gentle, graceful movements, as well as deep breathing and relaxation, and a discussion about how this practice may support movement and balance issues.  

 

10:30 - 11:00:   Vibration training and blood flow moderation training by Dr. Michael Turner, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, FAAOMPT

Dr. Turner is a practicing physical therapist and the owner and manager of OrthoSport Hawaii, a physical therapy and medical fitness facility in Honolulu.  He is also associate professor with the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences teaching continuing professional education for physical therapists in the US and Abroad.   His presentation will cover two unique evidence based approaches to enhance exercise response: Blood Flow Moderation Training (Kaatsu), and Whole Body Vibration Training.

11:00 - 11:30:  Nutrition presentation by Fauzia Morgan, CNC, LE

Ms. Morgan is a certified nutrition consultant who offers a holistic, compassionate, practical approach to nutrition, health, and wellness.   After her close family friend was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Ms. Morgan began researching and exploring how different nutritional therapies can improve the quality of life of those living with Parkinson’s disease, depression, anxiety, and other neurological conditions.  Her presentation will cover options for optimal ways of eating including reducing inflammation and improving digestion.
